Navigation Made Easy With New Products From R Electronics

R Electronics, Australia’s exclusive distributor of world-class marine electronics introduces the first thermal night vision camera to be controlled from the Furuno Navnet 3D navigation platform.

Thanks to a unique partnership between OceanView and Furuno, the Apollo II night vision camera
can now be fully integrated into the NavNet 3D navigation system, allowing boat owners to control
their OceanView camera’s functions through the Furuno system.

R Electronics managing director Errol Cain said this meant there were no extra controls taking up space in the helm.

“It makes navigation quick and easy,” Errol said.

“OceanView cameras are well-matched to Furuno’s NavNet 3D system which makes controlling a boat’s night vision functions, such as tilt, pan and zoom, simple and effective.

“The Apollo II is OceanView’s first camera to be integrated with Furuno’s NavNet 3D but other cameras such as Poseidon and Zeus are also compatible.

“Furuno’s NavNet 3D system uses TimeZero technology which facilitates chart redraw, chart panning, changing chart display modes, zooming, and other chart handling functions. It is fully digitised with highly sensitive digital sensors for radar and fish finders. Combined with the Apollo II thermal night vision camera, the system is ideal for sportfishermen, megayachts, sport yachts, military, fire and police boats.”

Tips from Furuno:

Tech Tip 1 – Sonar

Using sonar such as Furuno’s CH-300 provides both cruising and sports fishing enthusiasts with the added convenience of navigating safely past bommies on the Great Barrier Reef or finding fish schools around the vessel for a prized marlin. Simply set up the 3 custom modes for Sounder, navigation and Fishing and enjoy the benefits of looking forward and around your vessel.

Tech Tip 2 - Sounders

When looking for large pelagic fish around bait schools remember a good quality fish finder will always represent the largest fish with the darkest colour. In the examples there are pelagic fish (Striped Marlin) hunting bait, the marlin are characterized by the separate dark dashes on the screen, some even look like an arch.

Tech Tip 3 – Navnet 3D Display customization and data boxes

To setup Display pages on Navnet 3D simply push DISP key then push and hold the Rotokey to build you 2 x 3 x or 4x spilt screen. Options include Chart, Sounder, Radar, Navdata, Cameras and much more. To change the type of data in the databoxes on screen place the cursor over the box and right click to bring up available other data to display.
