Sanctuary Cove Boat Show 2010

R Electronics to showcase the latest in marine technology

Marine electronics and navigation guru, Errol Cain has supervised the installation of marine electronic systems into thousands of luxury cruisers in his 21 years experience. This month Errol shares his knowledge and experience on the latest technology from HRO, Lumitec and OceanView.

R Electronics will exhibit the latest in marine technology from HRO, OceanView and Lumitec at its two displays at this year’s Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, May 20-23.

HRO

The Seafari Versatile water maker, the latest innovation from HRO (Horizon Reverse Osmosis) will be on display for the first time in Australia at the Sanctuary Cove Show.

With a more compact design, the Seafari Versatile water maker allows the unit to be fitted in smaller areas such as when there is limited engine room space. Available in either compact or modular configuration, the Seafari versatile offers the best installation options.

At more than 12 centimetres (five inches) smaller than its predecessor, the Seafari Versatile 1800-2 is still capable of producing 6800 litres (1800 gallons) of water a day.

A remote mount cube makes the Seafari Versatile water maker easy to install, use and maintain, this feature also provides easy access to system controls. With no installation restrictions and push button operating system, this new design is simple yet effective.

R Electronics managing director Errol Cain said HRO have just launched the remote cube upgrade on the entire Seafari product range.

"The new Seafari Versatile’s remote mount cube allows for maximum flexibility when installing the system and as far as I am aware, no other water maker has this feature," Errol said.

Oceanview

R Electronics will also display the latest state-of-the-art night vision camera systems from OceanView’s thermal imaging cameras. There are five models in the range from Apollo II to the Zeus, which can be fitted to any size boat.
The Apollo II is the base model and offers a single or dual camera system. The Apollo II is available in Thermal only, Ultra low light only, Thermal and Ultra low light as well as in HD.
The Triton is a three camera system featuring thermal and low light cameras as well as fixed field of view and a 312 x zoom colour camera for viewing objects at a distance.
The Atlas extends the capability of the Triton camera by adding 2 x digital zoom to the HD Thermal imager, giving the imager a longer range detection capability.
The Poseidon includes a full 2 axis MEMS gyro to compensate for the vessel’s movement and maintain a stable image.
The Zeus is the most precise gyro stabilised system using a 2 axis FOG (fibre optic gyro) to compensate for the vessel’s movement. The Zeus also has vessel movement tracking via Radar or AIS.

Not only do OceanView’s thermal imaging cameras provide high resolution images day or night, it also has a dual capacity to capture thermal images as well. It has a range of up to one nautical mile and uses a low light .00015 Lux camera to provide a crisp picture in even the most difficult navigational conditions.

OceanView’s new night vision cameras are the most exciting electronic aid to navigation to be released since the advent of the infra-red imaging, according to R Electronics managing director Errol Cain.

"From our night time trials where we ran at speeds ranging from planning to cruising speed in varying degrees of darkness, the OceanView low-light camera literally turned night into day and allowed us to navigate with complete confidence," he said.

Lumitec

Lumitec’s new LED lighting range is a unique product featuring a spectacular range of internal, external and underwater energy efficient lights, with its power consumption less than a tenth of halogen lights.

A small selection of this new lighting range was on display last year but most of the lights featured at this year’s show will be on display for the first time at Sanctuary Cove.

Boat owners can choose from almost 500 configurations with Lumitec’s diverse range of products including seven colour options, four light output choices and 22 models.

Errol Cain said "I am impressed with the features which include the ‘Maxillume’ LED flood/spot light which is the brightest but consumes only 1.8amps at 24vdc (volts direct current) and is constructed from solid billet marine grade alloy.

"The Lumitec saloon and cabin lights have the same warm white colour temperature or ambience as halogen yet consume just one tenth of the battery power. They are available in single, dual, triple or quad colour output with the push of a switch.

"R Electronics is proud to be the sole importer and distributor of Lumitec LED lighting and we are looking for dealers interested in distributing this new lighting concept throughout Australia.

"I believe the future of lighting is very exciting and now we will be at the forefront of marine lighting in the South Pacific."
